The Tourist Meets the 2013 ETAs

On an early Sunday morning The Tourist took a trek through Samhwasa national park. There he ran into a huge group of young professionals who called themselves the ETAs. No, they were not Extra-Terrestrial Avengers nor were they merely Entertaining Teachers from America. Rather, as they explained to him, their moniker stood for English Teaching Assistants. These 80 strong partnered with elementary, middle, and high schools throughout Korea, not only for the sake of educating youth in English communication skills, but to cross cultural barriers and build a positive international community around them. At schools, they started supplemental classes, planned festivals, organized newspapers, and ran extracurricular activities for their students. Outside, they lived with host families, started youth programs, launched magazines, ran language tables, joined sports clubs and contributed in so many ways to their local and international communities. Impressed by their energy, enthusiasm and handsome looks, The Tourist made no hesitation at the opportunity to jump in their photograph. Welcome to the first cartoon post of the Tourist, Adventures in South Korea.
